Weego: Hiking & Outdoors Preparation Guide

The Assignment

This content was a key portion of a multi-stage funnel campaign that leveraged Weego’s website and social media to drive holiday sales. The target audience included adventure-seekers and wanderers who feel most at home in remote spaces but still need the peace of mind that portable power provides. I created this list of key actions to ensure hikers are prepared for their next outdoor experience while integrating the benefits of Weego’s portable jump starter line.

Goals

  • Craft a branded landing page that gets readers (or their family members) adventure-ready and excited to hit the trail, while positioning Weego as a trusted ally in outdoor preparation.
  • Position Weego as a solution for outdoor preparedness in a way that informs rather than sells, prioritizing audience education while organically interspersing product mentions.

Engagement: Include multiple product links and brand images to enhance the reader’s experience.

Outdoor Adventures Can Be Awesome if You Follow These Rules

Adventure is calling! Don’t let it go to voicemail… There’s nothing like getting outside, taking a deep breath of fresh air, and enjoying nature. Whether you’re planning on hiking a state park in your area or backpacking across the Appalachian Trail (kudos to you!), you’ll need to know the basics on how to make the most of your outdoor adventure.

Check and Dress for the Weather

Before you head into the Great Outdoors, know what Mother Nature will be sending your way. Plan to dress in layers with moisture-wicking fabrics as a base. If there’s even a slight chance that the temps will dip, pack hand and foot warmers. Keep an eye on the sky for quick-forming storms and have an action plan in place.

Break in the Boots

A great pair of hiking boots is the key to walking comfortably and safely during your outdoor exploration. Break in your hiking boots by walking around your neighborhood or local park. A plea from your feet: don’t put your hiking boots on for the first time the day of your outing. Blisters aren’t fun (side note: pack band-aids in your first aid kit).

Navigate like a Pro

It’s easy to get turned around when every rock, tree, and stream looks exactly the same. Armed with a topographic map, compass, trail markers, binoculars, and a whistle, you’ll be able to easily identify your surroundings. Leaving a trail of breadcrumbs to find your way back is not recommended

Stay Hydrated

Water does a body good, and it’s important to stay hydrated during trail activity. Drink at least one quart of fluid per hour (especially in hot environments and rough terrain). Bottoms up!

Feed Your Body

Exercise does a body good! It can also make people hangry (definition: hungry + angry). Don’t let an empty stomach ruin your exploration. Pack energy bars, freeze-dried meals, nuts, dried fruits, and jerky.

Safety First with the Right First Aid

Whether you buy a pre-packaged kit or build your own, a first aid kit should always be in your pack. Essentials include sunscreen, insect repellent, band-aids, gauze, antiseptic cream, tweezers, anti-inflammatory medicine, and a utility knife.

Remember, There Aren’t Outlets in the Forest

Is your GoPro running low on juice? From your GoPro to blenders (margaritas, anyone?!), air compressors, lanterns, heated blankets, and more, Weego’s jump starter line comes to your outdoor adventure rescue! These portable power sources are even strong enough to jump start your car when you realize the interior light was left on (whoops) and your battery is dead.

Light Up the Night

If camping is your thing (hotel rooms don’t count), flashlights are a must. Our jump starters’ high-lumen flashlight could light up your entire campsite or illuminate the inside of your whole tent. It also comes with a strobe feature to help disorient furry predators and an SOS setting in case you find yourself in an unfortunate situation.

Gimme Shelter

Practice makes perfect, and putting up a tent certainly takes some practice. Before you head out on your trek, put up and break down your tent a few times. Things will go so much smoother if you aren’t trying to decipher assembly instructions for the first time as daylight fades. In addition to your tent, pack sleeping bags and a tarp.

Weego is all about using cutting-edge battery technology to provide convenient portable power to people on the go. Think of Weego products as a “Swiss Army Knife” for outdoor adventure safety and emergency preparedness.
